The fire that broke out at a garment factory in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial Area around 3:00 a.m. Thursday was finally extinguished after several hours of frantic efforts.
Six fire department vehicles had a difficult time battling the blaze, which had started in the factory’s basement, and all routes leading to the site of the fire had to be closed to prevent it from spreading further.
However, flames were still raging at a superstore near the city’s Jail Chowrangi area as of last reports.
Because of the smoke, rescue personnel had difficulty reaching the store’s basement and cracks developed in the building.
