In light of the high risk of terrorism at schools, the Punjab home department has asked school administrations with 1,500 or more kids to finish their security plans by June 15.
The department has placed a specific focus in its letter on ensuring watertight security procedures at A and A Plus schools with immediate effect. “The outer walls of your institutions must be at least eight feet high, with razor wires on top to further improve security,” the letter states.
If the walls are 10 feet high, the department recommends installing shards of glass on them.
Furthermore, the administrations of these schools have been ordered to rapidly replace any deteriorated outer walls. “The paths to schools must be zigzagged.” Aside from that, bunkers should be built on them to increase security,” according to the letter.
The agency has directed these schools to promptly notify them of the number of security officers and weapons on campus. “Aside from that, ensure sure your metal detectors, walkthrough gates, and security alarms are in working order,” the government advises.
Commissioners, deputy commissioners, and assistant commissioners have been informed that they will visit their administrations after June 15 during the summer vacations to evaluate the arrangements they have taken to protect their children from terrorist attacks. “And if these preparations are deemed to be inadequate, stern action will be taken against the management of these schools,” the letter threatens.
