The government has reduced the price of a 50kg bag of fertilizer from Rs389 to Rs1,768.
The Ministry of Industries and Production also issued a notification in this regard, stating that the price will be implemented immediately and will remain in effect until July 7, 2022.
The provincial governments and the administration in Islamabad have been notified of the fertilizer price increase.
According to the notification, the government is subsidizing gas for the fertilizer industry, and relief from the subsidized gas should reach farmers.
The notification states that fixing the price of fertilizer was necessary to prevent profiteering, and that action will be taken if the decision is not implemented.
According to the notification, the decision will ensure the availability of urea at a reasonable price.
