Speaking Truth to Oppressed

Job advertisement seems hoax to unemployed youth

Job advertisement

Job advertisement: Unemployment seems to be at its peak amid the turmoil of coronavirus and now people are feeling more threatened regarding employment as the spread of Omicron looms over the country.

Recently, the Punjab Public Service Commission’s job advertisement for the post of Sub-Inspector(SI) worked as a light of hope among the youngsters who were unemployed and had a passion to serve their country.

The job has certain requirements which are necessary to be fulfilled including physical fitness and medical test. To get a Certificate of Physical Standard issued by the Medical Superintendent the applicants had been directed to visit DHQ, Service hospital, Lahore, or any Police Hospital. The applicants reached the mentioned hospitals to get their certificates. But instead of getting a certificate, they received a handwritten notice pasted on the wall which resulted in agitation among the applicants. In the notice, the applicants were ordered to visit Mian Munshi Hospital/Kot Khawaja Saeed hospital for their physical fitness and medical certificate.

“We had been told in the job advertisement to get certificates from Service Hospital or DHQ but on reaching there we received a notice which was not even signed by the MS of the hospital. We are waiting in Kot Khwaja Saeed hospital but the hospital authorities are saying that the test is being conducted for limited people as they do not have the capacity to do a medical test of applicants and we have been informed on short notice,” protested the applicants.

“Government has failed to give us job opportunities, if we are given any, it seems to us a hoax. It is causing frustration among the youth. Authorities who are at the helm of affairs are ruining our career and wasting our skills and education,” an applicant told The Asian Mirror.
