The anti-terrorism court in Karachi has ordered that the Nazim Jokhio murder case be transferred to a sessions court.
On Monday, the anti-terrorism court issued its decision on the jurisdiction of the Jokhio case.
The investigation officer was also directed by the court to present the case challan in the sessions court.
Previously, on February 8, the Nazim Jokhio murder case was transferred to the ATC at the request of the aggrieved party.
However, on April 13, following the change of government in the Centre, MNA Jam Kareem Jokhio, his brother MPA Jam Awais Jokhio, and six others who had been nominated in the Jokhio murder case was removed from the case.
Siraj Lashari, the case’s investigation officer, presented the challan to the anti-terrorism court. Haider, Mairaj, and Niaz were named as defendants in the challan.
The case was ordered to include anti-terrorism clauses by judicial magistrate Malir.
The family of Nazim Jokhio claimed that PPP MPA Jam Awais Gohram Jokhio and his men tortured Nazim, 30, to death in the Memon Goth area of Karachi in October 2021.
As Nazim attempted to prevent his foreign guests from hunting houbara bustards, the MPA erupted. When the foreign visitors continued their hunt, Nazim recorded them and posted the video on social media.
In November 2021, Nazim was kidnapped and his tortured body was discovered in the farmhouse of MPA Jam Awais in Murad Goth, Malir. His body was covered in bruises and abrasions.
Police have charged MPA Awais, his brother MNA Jam Kareem, and others with murder. Awais was detained, but Jam Kareem fled the country and flew to Dubai.
In their charge sheet, police named the detained MPA and four others as defendants, and MNA Jam Kareem as an evading suspect. Jam Kareem, on the other hand, later returned to the country.
