The University of Punjab produced 327 PhDs in one year, setting a prestigious record for the first time in the history of any university in Pakistan. A press release stated that this glorious achievement is an outcome of special attention to research and the conduct of regular meetings of relevant bodies particularly the Advanced Studies and Research Board. A total of 1018 degrees and medals were given away to the graduates in the 131st Convocation of PU.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, chief guests, deans, faculty members, and a large number of graduates and their parents attended the ceremony. It is pertinent to mention here that, in the convocation, besides 327 PHDs, 87 MS/MPhil, 76 Master’s, and 67 undergraduate medals and 4 prizes/purses were distributed among 189 students.
