FM Bilawal defends Imran Khan’s visit to Russia in US

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto defended former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Russia in the United States, saying it was part of Imran Khan’s foreign policy.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly blamed his demise on the US government. According to Imran Khan, the US voted him out via a no-trust motion because he visited Russia during the Russia-Ukraine conflict and pledged to pursue independent foreign policy.

On a question about former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Russia, Bilawal Bhutto said during a press conference in New York, “as far as the former PM’s trip to Russia [is concerned], I would absolutely defend him,” adding that “[the] Pakistani PM conducted that trip as part of his foreign policy.”

According to Bilawal Bhutto, no one anticipated a conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“I believe it is extremely unjust to punish Pakistan for such a minor offense.” Of course, Pakistan is absolutely clear when it comes to the UN [United Nations] principles of non-use of force, and we stand by these principles,” he said.

The FM went on to say that Pakistan is not involved in any conflict and has no desire to be. “We will continue to stress the importance of peace, dialogue, and diplomacy in resolving this conflict as quickly as possible,” he said.

“We will certainly not take the side of any aggressor in this context,” Bilawal said, adding that Pakistan has its own issues and has been witness to a decade of conflict in Afghanistan.

According to Bilawal, Pakistan is now tired of the war because it has sacrificed its children, leadership, men, and women. “As a result, we believe that by employing dialogue and diplomacy tools, we can solve many problems.”

‘Imran Khan should play the role of a responsible Opposition member,’ he says.

Later, in a press conference in New York, FM Bilawal blasted former Prime Minister Imran Khan for his “undemocratic and unconstitutional politics.”

“Imran Khan is not doing democratic, parliamentary, or constitutional politics; instead, he is heading toward extremist politics,” Bilawal said.

He stated that the opposition has the right to protest, but Imran Khan is making false accusations against political opponents and institutions.

Bilawal Bhutto went on to say that if they revealed how Imran Khan’s government was formed and ran, he [Imran Khan] would have nowhere to hide.

“As a result, Imran Khan should play the role of a responsible Opposition member; otherwise, he will have to [give] answer[s],” Bilawal said, adding that those involved in the crime of bringing Imran Khan to power will also have to answer.

PM Shehbaz’s candidacy should be considered: Bilawal

Bilawal Bhutto expressed his support for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government, saying that the premier should be given a chance to solve the country’s problems.

“We need to find solutions to problems while working with all stakeholders and parties,” he said.
