Since November 24, the Omicron Corona virus has been found in at least 22 countries.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday that the worldwide risk of Omicron spreading was “extremely high,” and encouraged 194 member countries to expedite immunizations to high-risk groups.
There have been no reports of Omicron-related deaths, but further research is needed to determine whether it has the capacity to overcome immunity generated by vaccines and earlier infections, according to the WHO.
Countries where Omicron has been detected:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Nigeria, Portugal, Reunion, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
