Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will visit Attock on Tuesday to launch several education initiatives, including laptop distribution, Honhaar scholarships, information technology laboratories and new undergraduate degree programmes at local colleges.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the chief minister would distribute laptops and Honhaar scholarships among students from Rawalpindi and Attock during a ceremony at COMSATS University Attock.
The initiatives are part of the Punjab government’s efforts to improve access to higher education, strengthen digital learning facilities and address transportation challenges faced by students in the district.
Laptops and Honhaar Scholarships for Students
During the ceremony at COMSATS University Attock, Maryam Nawaz will distribute laptops and Honhaar scholarships to eligible students from Rawalpindi and Attock.
The Honhaar Scholarship Programme provides financial assistance to deserving students pursuing higher education, helping reduce the financial burden on families and improve access to university education.
The laptop distribution initiative is intended to support students in digital learning, research and academic activities by improving their access to technology.
Students can find programme announcements and eligibility information through the Punjab Higher Education Department and the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
New IT Laboratories and BS Degree Programmes
The chief minister will also inaugurate modern information technology laboratories at four colleges across Attock district.
The new facilities are expected to strengthen students’ access to computer education and practical IT training. The laboratories will provide additional resources for students seeking to develop digital and technical skills.
In another education initiative, the Punjab government will introduce BS degree programmes at different colleges in the district.
The expansion of undergraduate programmes is intended to provide local students with more opportunities to pursue university-level education without having to travel to other cities.
Pink Buses to Improve Students’ Transport
The Punjab government will also provide pink buses to different degree colleges in Attock to facilitate students’ transportation.
The initiative is aimed at addressing commuting difficulties and improving access to educational institutions, particularly for female students.
Reliable transport facilities can help students from distant areas attend classes more regularly and continue their education with fewer travel-related difficulties.
Education Minister Announces Initiatives
Rana Sikandar Hayat shared details of the chief minister’s visit and the planned initiatives through a social media post.
He expressed hope that the measures would improve educational facilities and create additional academic opportunities for students in Attock.
The announcements cover several areas of education policy, including financial support, digital infrastructure, undergraduate education and student transportation.
The impact of these initiatives will depend on their implementation, the availability of facilities and the number of students who benefit from the programmes.
Further updates on education policies and scholarship programmes are available through the Punjab Higher Education Department.
