Pakistan Railways has introduced several cost-cutting measures under the federal government’s austerity drive, including a temporary suspension of house building advance loans and a ban on foreign official visits.
House building advance loans for Pakistan Railways officers and employees have been suspended until December 31. During this period, no officer or employee will be eligible to receive the loan.
The Railways Minister has also ordered a ban on foreign official visits by officers and employees as part of efforts to reduce government expenditure.
Austerity Measures Implemented Across Railways
Pakistan Railways has issued orders for the immediate implementation of the prime minister’s austerity measures across the department.
All relevant instructions related to reducing unnecessary expenditure are being enforced, with departments directed to follow the new restrictions.
Fuel Allocations Cut by 50 Percent
The cost-cutting drive also includes a major reduction in official fuel allocations.
Fuel quotas allocated to officers have been cut by 50 percent. The Railways Minister’s own official fuel allowance has also been reduced by half.
The measures are aimed at limiting administrative spending and ensuring that available resources are used more efficiently across Pakistan Railways.
