The Punjab Council of the Arts has taken action against several theatre artists and halls in Lahore and other cities over alleged violations of the province’s theatre regulations, including inappropriate performances and breaches of prescribed drama timings.
The council has issued notices to actresses Saima Khan, Misbah Khan, Nazy and Chandni Sehar over performances that officials described as inappropriate.
Notices have also been served on actresses Hina Chaudhry and Fiza Diamond in connection with the alleged violations.
Theatre Halls Face Notices Over Timing Violations
Alongside action against artists, the Punjab Council of the Arts has issued notices to several theatre halls for failing to comply with prescribed drama timing rules.
Punjab Theatre Lahore has separately been served a notice over alleged non-compliance with security-related standard operating procedures (SOPs), including the requirement to maintain the prescribed number of security guards.
The council has directed all concerned artists, theatre owners and producers to submit their responses within two days.
Strict Action Ordered Under Drama Act
The action follows directions from the Punjab Department of Information and Culture to take strict measures against violations in the province’s theatre industry.
Officials said theatres and artists found violating the Drama Act could face immediate action after the authorities review their responses.
The latest notices are part of broader efforts by Punjab authorities to enforce regulations governing stage dramas, theatre timings, performances and security arrangements at entertainment venues.
Authorities are expected to determine further action after receiving responses from the artists, theatre owners and producers.
