The Punjab government has decided to fire provincial Advocate-General (AG) Ahmed Awais as secretary of law and justice, and a summary of the decision was sent to the Punjab chief minister on Tuesday.
According to the summary, the government has the authority to appoint or dismiss the AG under articles 140 and 105 of the constitution, as well as the rules of business of the Government of Punjab.
Following Awais’ removal, Additional Advocate General (AAG) Malik Akhtar Javed should be given additional attorney general responsibilities, according to the summary.
