The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has prepared a plan to restore and renovate 808 parks across the city, with students and civil society groups set to take part in the effort.
According to PHA Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javaid, involving students and civil society in the restoration process is intended to make the parks more attractive and more useful for citizens, turning the initiative into a broader community effort rather than a purely administrative one.
Geo-Tagged Trees and a Brighter City
Javaid said the authority will take additional steps to improve tree care following a geo-tagging exercise, which will help track and monitor trees across the city more systematically. He added that new measures are also being introduced to make Lahore brighter and more visually appealing overall.
Plantation Drive to Target Grey Areas
The PHA chief said the authority will also carry out expanded plantation efforts in the city’s grey, or underdeveloped, areas. He said projects such as the Linx of Lahore and the Green Corridor will play a significant role in improving the city’s overall appearance as well as the authority’s performance.
Green and White Decorations Planned for Independence Day
Javaid also said Independence Day will be celebrated with enthusiasm, with special arrangements being made to decorate the city in green and white to mark the occasion.
