Lahore has finalized a schedule of events to mark Independence Day 2026, with sports competitions, rallies, musical programs, and other activities planned across the city from August 9 to August 23.
According to reports, the celebrations kicked off with a bicycle rally on August 9. A motorbike rally is scheduled in Defense on August 10, followed by a karate tournament at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex on August 11. Wrestling and powerlifting competitions are also part of the lineup.
City Lights, Laser Show, and a Mega Concert
Lahore will be lit up across the city as part of the celebrations, with a special laser show planned at Town Hall and additional arrangements set up at Liberty Chowk. Reports indicate a mega concert paired with a fireworks display will be held at Liberty Chowk on August 13.
Flag-Hoisting Ceremony and National Squash Championship on August 14
On August 14, Lahore will host the National Squash Championship alongside a grand flag-hoisting ceremony at Huzuri Bagh, marking the day itself with both sporting and ceremonial events.
Celebrations to Wrap Up With Dangal on August 23
The city’s Independence Day festivities will conclude with a “Dangal” wrestling event on August 23, bringing the roughly two-week celebration schedule to a close.
Throughout the celebrations, Lahore will be decked out with green crescent flags and string lights, with the city’s entrance and exit routes also decorated to mark the occasion.
