Lahore — Onkar Singh, a Sikh student, has emerged as one of the top performers in this year’s matriculation examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, securing the second position overall.
The young achiever said he dedicates the milestone to his father, describing his success as an effort to make him proud and to serve as a source of inspiration for his family.

Speaking about his achievement, Onkar Singh said he was delighted to have earned one of the top spots in the board exams.
He credited his father for motivating him throughout his academic journey, saying his hard work was driven by a desire to make his father proud and become a source of hope for his family.
Aims to Follow His Father Into Medicine
Onkar Singh shared that his ambition is to become a doctor, just like his father. This is not the first time he has posted strong results — he also secured the second position in his ninth-grade examinations, marking two consecutive years of top-tier performance.
He added that last year he scored full marks in Islamic Studies and Quran translation, reflecting consistent dedication across all his subjects.
Father Says Result Reflects Merit, Not Religion
Onkar Singh’s father, Dr. Mimpal Singh, a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, said he felt immense pride in his son’s achievement.
He said the result demonstrates that students in Pakistan are evaluated on merit rather than religious background, noting that no one receives special treatment because of their faith in the country’s education system.
He added that while he never imposed excessive strictness on his son, he consistently encouraged him to stay focused on his studies and academic goals.
