Islamabad — Pakistan’s corporate sector posted its strongest month ever in July, with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) recording 5,438 new company incorporations, the highest monthly figure since the regulator began tracking registrations.

The milestone reflects a sharp acceleration in business formation across the country, spanning technology startups, trading firms, and a growing wave of foreign-linked ventures.

Breakdown by Company Type

Of the new registrations, private limited companies made up the largest share at 3,148, followed by 2,117 single-member companies. The month also saw 127 limited liability partnerships, 28 nonprofit organizations, and 18 public companies added to the corporate register. Separately, five foreign companies opened offices in Pakistan during July.

Foreign Investment Interest Grows

The SECP said new entrants from Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and China set up operations in Pakistan during the month. In addition, 112 of the newly registered companies listed foreign directors on their boards, pointing to expanding international interest in Pakistan’s business environment.

Punjab Leads Regional Registrations

Punjab accounted for the bulk of new company formations, with 2,756 registrations — just over half of the national total. Islamabad followed with 1,053 new companies, ahead of Sindh at 864, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 450, Gilgit Baltistan at 180, and Balochistan at 135.

Several other sectors also showed strong activity: food and beverages added 256 companies, tourism 207, ecommerce 181, education 165, real estate development 162, and corporate agriculture 145, according to SECP data.
