Federal Budget 2026: Ad Hoc Relief Allowance Announced for Govt Employees Across All Grades

The Federal Government of Pakistan has released detailed figures for the ad hoc relief allowance proposed for government employees under the federal budget, outlining grade-wise monthly increases aimed at easing inflationary pressure on public sector workers.

According to official budget documents shared with parliament, the allowance will apply to employees from Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 1 to BPS 22, with higher amounts allocated to senior grades.

Under the proposed structure, employees in BPS-1 will receive an additional Rs540 per month, while BPS-2 employees will get Rs620. The allowance rises to Rs730 for BPS-3, Rs830 for BPS-4, and Rs940 for BPS-5.

For middle grades, employees in BPS-6 will receive Rs1,050, while BPS-7 staff will get Rs1,140. The allowance has been fixed at Rs1,250 for BPS-8, Rs1,370 for BPS-9, and Rs1,490 for BPS-10.

Employees in BPS-11 will receive Rs1,640, while those in BPS-12 will get Rs1,790 per month. The allowance further increases to Rs1,950 for BPS-13 and Rs2,180 for BPS-14.

For higher non-gazetted and gazetted officers, the allowance has been set at Rs2,480 for BPS-15 and Rs2,830 for BPS-16.

Senior officers will receive more substantial increases. Officials in BPS-17 are set to receive Rs4,280, BPS-18 officers Rs5,330, and BPS-19 officers Rs5,670 per month.

At the top tier, the allowance has been proposed at Rs8,370 for BPS-20, Rs9,280 for BPS-21, and Rs10,890 for BPS-22 officers.

Parliamentary sources said the ad hoc relief allowance is part of the government’s broader fiscal strategy to provide partial compensation for inflation, while maintaining expenditure controls under ongoing economic reform commitments.

The allowance will come into effect following approval of the federal budget by parliament and issuance of a formal notification by the finance division.
