Cement Prices Drop Slightly Across Pakistan

Retail cement prices edged lower across Pakistan during the past week, reflecting a modest but broad-based decline in both northern and southern markets.

According to data released on Tuesday, the average retail price of a cement bag in northern cities slipped to Rs1,521, down from Rs1,526 recorded a week earlier. The decrease, though marginal, signals continued price stability after weeks of volatility driven by demand fluctuations and transport costs.

A similar trend was observed in the southern regions, where the average retail price eased to Rs1,537 per bag during the week under review. This compares with Rs1,540 in the preceding week, indicating a slight softening in prices across key markets.

Market observers say the gradual decline suggests balanced supply conditions and cautious buying activity, particularly from the construction sector. Cement prices remain elevated compared to historical levels, but the recent movement points to short-term stabilization rather than sharp correction.

The cement industry is closely watched due to its strong link with construction, infrastructure development, and overall economic activity in Pakistan. Any sustained change in cement prices is likely to influence project costs, housing activity, and public-sector development spending in the coming months.
