Political, religious leadership denounce Masjid e Nabawi incident

The political and religious leadership of Pakistan, as well as others from various sectors of society, strongly condemned the chanting of anti-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation at Masjid-e-Nabwi (PBUH) in Madinah on Friday.

As soon as they entered Masjid-e-Nabawi to pay their respects at the Roza-e-Rasool, a group of protesting worshippers violated the sacred site’s sanctity and chanted slogans against the premier and other government officials who accompanied him (PBUH).

Protesters hurled insults at Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and misbehaved with Jamhoori Wattan Party (JWP) chief Shahzain Bugti.

Following the incident, politicians, religious leaders, and others expressed outrage and vehemently condemned it.

“I respect Mecca and Medina a lot,” Shahzain Bugti said, “and no one can speak in a loud voice there.”

Similarly, Marriyum Aurangzeb said, without naming Imran Khan but clearly referring to him, “I don’t want to name the person responsible for this incident because I don’t want to use this holy land for political purposes.”

“However, it will take time to repair the ways in which these people have harmed our society, and we can only do so by maintaining a positive attitude.”

She went on to say that the PML-leadership N’s had instructed its employees to control their emotions.

 

Raja Farooq Haider, the ex-prime minister of Azad Kashmir, also condemned the chanting of slogans at Masjid-e-Nabawi and announced a protest after Friday prayers.

Haider slammed former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, saying that “inciting people to violence is unacceptable.”

“After losing their government, PTI supporters have gone insane,” he said.

The incident was condemned by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, who stated that Haram-e-Medina is a sacred site for the entire Muslim Ummah.

“It is against Islamic etiquette to speak loudly in the mosque,” he explained. “Whatever happened there today could not have been more disrespectful to the holy site. Those who do not respect the sanctity of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) house cannot claim to follow his teachings.”

MQM-P leader and Senator Faisal Subzwari claimed that those who condemned Captain Safdar for chanting slogans at Mazar-e-Quaid are now celebrating political slogans at Masjid-e-Nabawi.

The incident was also condemned by PML-N leader and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.

The protest at the Prophet’s mosque was also condemned by renowned scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel, who stated that disrespect to the Haram Sharif is not tolerated in Islam.

Former national cricket team captain Mohammad Yousaf shared his experience, saying that when he saw the ‘Kaaba’ and Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) for the first time, he began crying due to his emotions.

“I beg Allah’s forgiveness for what happened today at Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH),” he tweeted.

The incident was also condemned by PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan, who called it “against the sanctity of the holy place.”

Osama Bin Javaid, a journalist, described the incident as a “planned protest by supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.”

Tahir Ashrafi, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, has also expressed his displeasure with the unfortunate turn of events at the Masjid-e-Nabawi.

“A group of people disrespected the holy mosque by chanting slogans,” Ashrafi said in a video statement. “Those who were involved in this act have dishonored the country.” Instead of chanting slogans inside a mosque, Muslims are expected to lower their voices “.

He warned that those who had previously violated the laws of Muslim countries were imprisoned and that authorities had refused to release them.
