Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has responded to the ceasefire in Lebanon by crediting Hezbollah’s resistance while also recognizing Pakistan’s diplomatic involvement in helping facilitate the agreement.
In a message posted on X, Ghalibaf said the halt in hostilities resulted from sustained resistance and coordination among allied groups, rejecting suggestions that the ceasefire represented a retreat or concession.
Cautious optimism from Tehran
Ghalibaf emphasized that the agreement should be approached carefully, noting concerns over its durability. He called for continued unity among allied forces and said vigilance would be required to ensure the ceasefire is not violated.

He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to its existing positions, stating that Tehran would remain faithful to its pledges while closely monitoring developments on the ground.
Pakistan’s diplomatic role highlighted
In a rare public acknowledgment, the Iranian speaker thanked the state of Pakistan and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, for their role in mediation efforts linked to the ceasefire.
Diplomatic observers say the recognition reflects Pakistan’s expanding engagement in regional diplomacy and its efforts to contribute to de-escalation amid rising Middle East tensions.

In a separate post on X, the prime minister expressed hope that the agreement would lead to longer-term peace and help prevent further escalation.
US diplomacy also acknowledged
Shehbaz Sharif praised Donald Trump for his diplomatic role, saying the ceasefire reflected effective international engagement at a critical moment.
According to the prime minister, sustained dialogue and political pressure were essential in creating conditions for the agreement.

Analysts caution that while the ceasefire offers short-term relief, its success will depend on compliance by all sides and continued diplomatic engagement. They add that Pakistan’s recognition in the process could strengthen its standing as a credible mediator beyond South Asia.
