KPK Approves Law Requiring Govt Employees to Seek Permission Before Marrying Foreigners

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a new law introducing strict regulations on marriages between government employees and foreign nationals, marking a notable shift in how personal matters of public servants are governed within the province.

According to an official announcement, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has given formal approval to the legislation, which makes it mandatory for government employees to obtain prior authorization before marrying a foreign citizen.

Without this approval, such marriages will be considered a violation of service rules.

Under the new framework, any public sector employee in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa intending to marry a foreign national must first submit a request to the relevant authorities.

Officials say the requirement is intended to ensure that all cases are reviewed through proper administrative channels before a marriage takes place.

Strict penalties for violations

The law clearly outlines disciplinary consequences for non-compliance. Any government employee found to have married a foreigner without prior permission will face action under applicable service rules.

Authorities have stressed that such violations will be treated as misconduct, potentially leading to formal disciplinary proceedings.

The provincial government has emphasized that the policy will be enforced strictly across all departments. Officials say the measure is aimed at strengthening administrative oversight, ensuring transparency, and maintaining compliance among public sector employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The move reflects a broader effort by the KP government to tighten regulatory controls within the public service framework, signaling that personal decisions involving foreign nationals will now be subject to formal approval processes.
