Federal Ministers for Power Khurram Dastagir and Poverty Alleviation Shazia Marri met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday and briefed him on the performance of their respective ministries.
Khurram Dastagir briefed the prime minister on the power sector’s reforms, particularly on the progress being made toward ending load shedding on May 1.
The prime minister directed the power minister to expedite reforms in the power sector, particularly the rehabilitation of defunct power plants.
Shazia Marri also briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on her ministry in detail.
She lauded the prime minister for announcing the inclusion of deserving people in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), as well as scholarships and assistance to parents to ensure the education of their daughters, during his visit to Balochistan.
She also informed the prime minister of the proposed appeal procedure for 820,000 people who were excluded from the BISP without inspection by the previous government.
The prime minister welcomed the appeals procedure and directed that the inclusion of deserving individuals who have been excluded from the BISP for no reason be ensured.
