Chawla Green Motors has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio in Pakistan by launching a more affordable variant of the Dongfeng Box, aiming to capture buyers in the fast-growing entry-level EV segment.
The newly introduced Dongfeng Box Smart 330 is now the lowest-priced option in the lineup, carrying a price tag of Rs 5,500,000. The company says the vehicle offers a claimed driving range of 330 kilometers on a single charge, positioning it as a budget-friendly alternative for urban commuters.
The Smart 330 is Rs 900,000 cheaper than the previous base variant, which offered a longer 430 km range and was priced at Rs 6,400,000. With this launch, the Dongfeng Box range in Pakistan now includes three variants, giving buyers more flexibility based on budget and range requirements.
The updated lineup includes the Box Flagship 430 priced at Rs 6,800,000, the Box Lux 430 at Rs 6,400,000, and the newly launched Box Smart 330 at Rs 5,500,000.
The move comes as competition heats up in Pakistan’s compact electric car segment. Recently, Capital Smart Motors entered the market with the JMEV EV3, offering two variants aimed at cost-conscious buyers.
The EV3 Comfort is priced at Rs 4,899,999, while the EV3 Premium costs Rs 4,999,999. Both variants feature a 30 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a claimed WLTP range of 271 kilometers, along with modern features such as a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, dual airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and a 360-degree camera.
Industry observers say the launch of more competitively priced electric vehicles signals rising momentum in Pakistan’s EV market. As fuel costs remain volatile and consumer interest in cleaner transport grows, automakers are increasingly targeting price-sensitive buyers with smaller, more affordable electric models.
