Balochistan Administrative Reforms 2026: New Districts & Divisions Announced

QUETTA – In a landmark move to improve governance and streamline administrative operations, the Balochistan provincial cabinet has approved the creation of new districts and divisions, along with major changes to existing administrative boundaries.

The decisions were finalized during a cabinet meeting held on January 19, 2026.

Barshor District Established

The government has approved the formation of a new Barshor District, with Barshor town as its headquarters. Toba Kakari will now fall under the jurisdiction of the new district. This move aims to enhance local governance and ensure better delivery of public services in remote areas.

Pishin Division: A New Administrative Hub

A new Pishin Division will be created, covering Pishin, Barshor, Chaman, and Qila Abdullah, with Saranan designated as the divisional headquarters. Officials say the creation of the Pishin Division will strengthen regional administration, improve coordination, and facilitate development projects across the area.

Quetta and Mastung Restructuring

The Quetta district will be divided into two separate districts to improve local administration and service delivery. Additionally, Mastung will be separated from Kalat Division and merged into the new Quetta Division, enhancing administrative efficiency in the region.

Other Divisional Arrangements

  • Zhob Division will retain its current boundaries, including Zhob, Musakhel, and Qila Saifullah.

  • Loralai Division will now include Loralai, Duki, Musakhel, and Ziarat, expanding its administrative reach.

  • A new Koh-e-Suleiman Division has been announced, covering Upper Dera Bugti, Kohlu, and Barkhan, with Rakhni as the divisional headquarters.

  • Naseerabad Division will remain unchanged, continuing to include Jhal Magsi and surrounding districts.

Focus on Governance and Local Development

The cabinet has directed officials to present detailed implementation plans for the new administrative structure in the next meeting.

Authorities emphasize that the restructuring is part of Balochistan’s long-term administrative reform strategy, aimed at improving governance, enhancing public service delivery, and bringing government services closer to local communities.
