The Government of Punjab has rolled out a new transport policy for senior bureaucrats, significantly increasing vehicle engine capacities and monthly fuel entitlements across multiple grades.
Under the updated policy, the Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of Police (Punjab) are now permitted to retain three official vehicles with engine capacities of 2800cc, 1800cc, and 4700cc.
Two of these vehicles will be allocated 800 liters of petrol per month, while the 4700cc vehicle will have no fuel limit.
Previously, the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary were limited to 1300cc and 1600cc vehicles with 200 liters of petrol per month, although fuel for official tours was uncapped.
Revised Entitlements for Senior Officers
-
Grade 20–22 Secretaries may now use two vehicles (2800cc and 1800cc). They will receive 200 liters of petrol for personal use, while fuel for official purposes remains unlimited. Previously, administrative secretaries were restricted to a 1300cc vehicle with 200 liters of petrol monthly.
Updated Allowances for Other Grades
-
Grade 19–20 Special Secretaries and DIGs: Now entitled to 1600cc vehicles with 250 liters of petrol per month, up from 1000–1300cc vehicles and 175 liters previously.
-
Grade 19 Additional Secretaries: Will receive 200 liters of petrol monthly with a 1600cc vehicle, up from 175 liters under the old policy.
