The Lahore City Traffic Police has intensified enforcement operations across Lahore, launching a citywide crackdown against major traffic violations to improve road safety and discipline.

According to Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Athar Waheed, special checkpoints and temporary blockades were established at multiple locations across the city during the past 12 hours as part of the operation.

The campaign specifically targeted one-way driving, motorcyclists riding without helmets, and vehicles lacking number plates or displaying non-standard plates.

As a result of the strict action, traffic police impounded 363 vehicles and shifted them to relevant police stations for serious violations. Official figures show that 1,946 motorcyclists were fined for not wearing helmets, highlighting ongoing concerns over rider safety.

Authorities also issued challan tickets to 665 vehicles for driving in the wrong direction, while 299 vehicles were penalized for violating lane discipline rules. In addition, 298 vehicles were fined for missing number plates or using unauthorized and non-standard plates.

Dr. Athar Waheed urged citizens to strictly follow traffic laws, emphasizing that compliance is essential to protect lives and reduce accidents on Lahore’s busy roads.

He advised motorcyclists to wear helmets at all times and instructed vehicle owners to ensure that approved number plates are properly installed.

The chief traffic officer warned that the crackdown will continue without discrimination, stressing that traffic police will maintain zero tolerance against violations to ensure safer and more orderly traffic conditions across the city.
