Baba Guru Nanak University (BGNU) has taken a major step toward strengthening its academic and research landscape with the formal approval of four new Institutes of Excellence.
The initiative was announced by Prof. Dr. Shahid Imran, Vice Chancellor of BGNU, following approval by the University Syndicate.
Newly Approved Institutes
The four institutes established under this initiative are:

Guru Nanak Institute for Interfaith Harmony and Peaceful Coexistence

Guru Nanak Institute for Anthropology and Human Studies

Guru Nanak Institute for Industrial Productivity and Future Businesses

Guru Nanak Institute for Energy, Materials and Climate Resilience
Focus on ESG and Interdisciplinary Research
According to the Vice Chancellor, the creation of these institutes reflects BGNU’s strong commitment to building an academic and research ecosystem rooted in the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.
Each institute is designed to promote interdisciplinary, solution-orientated research that addresses real-world challenges, industrial demands, and pressing societal issues.

“These Institutes of Excellence will serve as dynamic platforms where faculty and students can collaborate on innovation, problem-solving, and industry-focused research,” Prof. Dr Shahid Imran said.
“Our goal is to ensure that academic knowledge is translated into practical, impactful solutions.”
