The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme has been formally launched in Sindh, with the inauguration ceremony held at NED University in Karachi. Under the initiative, 20,000 laptops will be distributed to students across the province, aiming to enhance access to digital education and modern learning tools.
Focus on Digital Skills and Youth Education
Federal Government Spokesperson for Sindh Affairs Raja Khaliq Zaman Ansari said the scheme is designed to equip students with modern technology and essential digital skills.
He emphasized that youth education is a cornerstone of national development, and technology-driven learning plays a critical role in preparing students for future challenges.
Scheme Revived After 2018 Suspension
Ansari noted that the laptop scheme, which was discontinued in 2018, has been revived by the current federal government with a renewed emphasis on transparency, merit, and effective implementation.
He said lessons learnt from previous phases have been incorporated to ensure fair distribution.
Support for Research and Advanced Learning
The spokesperson credited the leadership of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme for restoring the initiative. He said the laptops will support students in research, information technology, and advanced academic learning, helping them compete in an increasingly digital world.
Inclusion of Sindh in National Education Initiatives
Ansari added that the federal government is taking concrete steps to ensure that students in Sindh are fully included in national education and technology programmes.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing education-focused policies and supporting young people through practical, results-driven measures.
