PM leaves for visit to Quetta to meet provincial officials

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Quetta on Saturday for a day-long visit, where he is anticipated to meet with provincial officials and start project construction.

The premier will lay the foundation stone for Sections One and Two of the Khuzdar National Highway, which is part of the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Highway and is now undergoing repair. Its two-lane design would make travel between Balochistan’s major cities easier.

PM Shehbaz will also assess Balochistan’s administrative affairs, law and order condition, and, in particular, the government’s Ramazan special package implementation.

He will also preside over a meeting to discuss a complaint about the selling of vital commodities at prices higher than those set by law, as well as a lack of supply of items.

Shehbaz is also due to meet with Balochistan’s elected officials. Federal Communications Minister Maulana Asad Mahmood, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and Balochistan National Party Chairman Sardar Akhtar Mengal are among those accompanying him.

The prime minister paid a visit to North Waziristan earlier this week, when he praised the Pakistan Army’s commanders and troops for their accomplishment in breaking the back of terrorism, destroying and degrading all forms of terrorist organisations, and dismantling their infrastructure.

Shehbaz informed the elders of the former tribal areas during his first visit to North Waziristan that the government will do everything necessary to help them and ensure their socioeconomic growth.
