Murree: Murree police have finalized a comprehensive traffic management plan for New Year’s Eve, canceling all leaves of traffic wardens and traffic police officers to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the celebrations.
According to a police spokesperson, all traffic wardens and officers have been directed to remain on duty, while special traffic squads have been formed to manage congestion, guide tourists, and strictly enforce traffic laws across Murree.
Mall Road to Remain Closed on New Year’s Night
Under the New Year traffic plan, Mall Road will be completely closed to all types of traffic. Authorities have advised tourists and local residents to use alternative routes and follow the instructions of traffic wardens deployed at key locations.
Police officials said strict legal action will be taken against:

Complete Ban on Motorcycles Announced
Murree Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Imran Razaq announced a complete ban on motorcycles during New Year’s night to reduce accidents and maintain public order.
He added that traffic police will take strict action against one-wheeling, motorcycles fitted with non-standard or loud silencers, and riders violating safety regulations.
Crackdown on Black Windows and Tinted Glass
To prevent any untoward incidents, police will also act against vehicles with black windows or tinted papers. The move aims to enhance visibility, security, and law enforcement monitoring during peak tourist movement.
The City Traffic Police Murree said they are making every effort to provide maximum facilitation to tourists and residents while ensuring safety and discipline on the roads.
Public Urged to Follow Traffic Instructions
The CTO urged citizens and visitors to cooperate with traffic police, follow road signboards, and comply with instructions issued by traffic wardens at checkpoints and intersections.
He emphasized that adherence to traffic rules plays a crucial role in preventing accidents, avoiding congestion, and ensuring a safe New Year celebration in Murree.
