Lahoris are excited and enthusiastic to celebrate the Basant festival from February 6 to 8, with authorities finalizing venues and safety arrangements.
According to a report by Aaj TV, citing sources, the administration has selected several locations for Basant celebrations, including Greater Iqbal Park, Jallo Park, Jilani Park, Gulshan Iqbal Park, and Model Town Park.
It added that officials may also allow Basant activities in parts of the Walled City. Officials said the administration will impose a complete ban on the use of metallic string, wire, and chemically coated kite string during the festivities.
Authorities warned that they will take strict action against violators. To curb illegal practices, the administration announced a reward of Rs. 5,000 for individuals who report the use of banned kite strings.
Officials said the measure aims to encourage timely reporting of violations and prevent accidents. Sources said authorities will allow kite flying only with weak glass-coated or traditional manja string.
Special monitoring teams will remain active to prevent the use of hazardous materials. Officials said they are finalizing security and administrative arrangements to ensure the safety of citizens and protect lives and property during the festival.
