Sindh Opens Free Pink EV Scooty Registrations for Women

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has declared the launch of the second phase of the province’s electric scooter distribution scheme, marking another step in the government’s efforts to expand eco-friendly transportation and support women’s mobility.

He said the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to provide women with safer and more reliable travel options, especially in urban areas where traffic congestion and limited transport choices often restrict movement.

Officials noted that the EV scooters offer a cleaner and more accessible alternative to conventional vehicles while also contributing to the province’s green transport goals.

The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) has begun registrations for free Pink EV Scooties in Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Hyderabad.

The authority confirmed in public announcements that the scheme is open to students and working women. Under the program, beneficiaries will receive seven days of free training along with assistance in obtaining a driving license.

Memon said the second phase would enable a large number of women to adopt modern electric transport, helping them commute more independently and safely. He added that the government views the scheme as an important investment in both women’s empowerment and sustainable mobility.
