Gohar says PTI won’t respond ‘brick for brick’

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Monday said the party has no plans of escalating tensions and “will not answer brick for brick,” as he addressed reporters following a parliamentary party meeting.

Gohar said the party wants the political process to move forward peacefully. “We want democracy to continue,” he stated, urging all sides to avoid fueling confrontation.

He noted that “what’s done is done,” adding that some elements were attempting to “set fire” to the situation by provoking further tensions.

The PTI chairman alleged that a small group was trying to create rifts between “a big political party and an important institution”.
He said such efforts were destabilizing and against national stability.

Gohar opposes membership suspensions

Addressing internal party matters, Gohar said no PTI lawmaker’s membership should be suspended. “If it happens, it should happen a thousand times,” he remarked, implying the party would stand firmly behind its members.

Gohar reaffirmed PTI’s stance toward state institutions, saying: “A strong army is the guarantor of Pakistan’s defence.”

He also shared that the PTI founder had requested a meeting between Bushra Bibi and his family, terming it a basic right.

Barrister Gohar appeared surprised at discussions regarding Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, questioning why such talk was emerging while Faisal Karim Kundi was still present in the province.

He said the move appeared to be a “hint” from certain quarters who wanted “the situation in the province to deteriorate.”

He firmly dismissed the possibility, saying, “Governor’s rule will not be imposed in KP.”
