The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has issued new winter timings for all government-run schools and colleges in Islamabad, which will be enforced from December 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026.
According to the official notification, all institutions under the FDE, including Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges in urban and rural areas, will operate under revised schedules to accommodate the winter season.
New Timings
For single-shift schools, classes will run from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday, while timings on Fridays will be 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Montessori and Prep classes will be held from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm throughout the week.
ECE timings have also been adjusted:
- ECE-I: 8:30 am to 11:30 am
- ECE-II: 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
Double-shift institutions will follow separate schedules for morning and evening shifts. Morning shifts will operate from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:15 am to 12:15 pm on Fridays.
Evening shifts will start at 1:15 pm and end at 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday, while Friday timings will be 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Postgraduate colleges may continue classes from 8:30 am to either 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm, depending on their individual academic requirements.
The notification emphasizes that Area Education Officers must ensure strict compliance and timely implementation of the new schedule across all FDE institutions.
The revised timings have been issued with the approval of the Director General of FDE and are aimed at facilitating students and staff as temperatures continue to drop in the federal capital.
