Lahore Metro Bus introduces new ticket system

The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has officially discontinued the token system for Lahore Metro Bus service.

It has introduced a new ticketing system, which requires passengers to purchase tickets before boarding the bus.

The new system, which includes ticket machines and counters at metro bus stations, is designed to enhance transparency, save time, and offer more convenience to commuters.

Passengers will now be able to buy tickets at these dedicated counters or through automated ticket vending machines located at the stations.

The authorities have also launched an innovative e-ticketing system to further streamline the process and reduce waiting times.

To assist travellers, additional staff members have been stationed at various points across the metro stations to guide and assist them with the new ticketing procedure.

This shift away from the token system comes after multiple complaints and technical issues related to the old method. Authorities believe that the new system will not only resolve these problems but also improve the overall efficiency of the Metro Bus service.

The Lahore Metrobus System (MBS), launched by the Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA), is a modern transport solution aimed at easing traffic congestion in Lahore, Pakistan’s second-largest city.

The system spans 27 km from Gajjumata to Shahdara, with 27 stations offering level boarding, escalators, and platform sliding doors for added convenience.

The route includes both at-grade and elevated sections, with an 8.3 km elevated portion from Canal to Data Darbar. The system operates 64 articulated, air-conditioned buses, ensuring efficient and comfortable travel.
