Moonis Elahi, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), met with Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema on Friday to discuss the current political situation in the province and the upcoming election of the Punjab Chief Minister.
The governor reiterated his commitment to support Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi in the election of the chief minister during the meeting.
The governor also stated that the coalition government was beginning to show cracks and that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would reemerge as a powerful force under Imran Khan’s leadership.
“The attacks on state institutions by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the past are historical facts that cannot be denied,” he said.
Moonis Elahi, a PML-Q MNA, spoke about the welfare projects that Parvez Elahi, as Punjab Chief Minister, had initiated in the past, and said that Parvez Elahi’s election would become the foundation of tolerance, forbearance, and good governance in the province.
“We will show tomorrow that we have a majority in the Punjab Assembly.” He stated, “A strategy is in the works for the election of Parvez Elahi as Punjab Chief Minister.”
