Pakistan records 10 deaths and 475 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

According to the most recent National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) figures released on Tuesday, the country has reported 475 new COVID-19 cases and 10 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours (Monday).

With the addition of the new 475 cases, the total number of infections now stands at 1,284,840. However, the overall death toll increased to 28,728 (a 2.2 percent increase).

Furthermore, in the last 24 hours, 42,577 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan, with 475 coming back COVID positive.

In comparison, the infection rate was 1.1 percent. Despite this, there were 905 patients in critical care.

However, as of yesterday, 327 patients had recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,242,236 with a 96.7 percent recovery rate.

The total number of active cases in the country was 13,876 as of Tuesday.

Furthermore, in the last 24 hours, Punjab, the country’s most populous province, reported 80 new cases, Sindh 331 new COVID-19 cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34 new cases, Islamabad 28 new cases, and AJK 2 new cases.

Although no new cases have been reported in Gilgit-Baltistan or Balochistan in the last 24 hours.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by a virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first known case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease quickly spread worldwide, resulting in the COVID-19 pandemic.
