LAHORE: Following a successful experiment at a domestic tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided against implementing COVID-19 restrictions for future matches, which include the use of a bio-secure bubble.
According to the PCB official, the board will implement this policy during the series against the West Indies. According to the PCB, a proposal will be sent to Cricket West Indies (CWI) for the series to be played without COVID-19 measures.
Players and coaching staff will be free to interact, and cricket will continue to be played in its normal environment. COVID-19 tests, on the other hand, will be conducted only if a player or staff member exhibits symptoms.
If the individual tests positive for COVID, he or she will be isolated for five days. Pakistan’s international series and domestic tournaments will follow the same policy.
In the recently concluded Pakistan one-day cup, the PCB did not create a biosecure bubble. Personal advice was given to the players to take precautionary measures. There was not a single case of COVID reported during the tournament’s 33 matches.
Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja congratulated the Australian and Pakistani teams on an enthralling 38-day tour.
“The three-Test series was combative and engrossing until the final hour of the 15th day, when a winner was declared, while white-ball cricket confirmed both sides’ high billing and calibre. The camaraderie and respect displayed by the two sides during high-stakes cricket was exemplary and served as a massive advertisement for our sport,” Raja said in a statement.
