Iran executes ‘key Israeli spy’ Bahman Choubi-asl amid rising tensions.

Iran on Monday hanged Bahman Choubi-asl, whom officials described as “one of the most important spies for Israel” inside the country.

The judiciary’s official outlet, Mizan, confirmed the execution after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence.

According to Mizan, Choubi-asl was hired by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency to penetrate sensitive Iranian institutions.

His alleged mission included accessing databases of government offices, creating breaches in national data centers, and monitoring the import routes of electronic equipment.

The judiciary said these activities amounted to “corruption on earth” — a capital offense under Iranian law. His appeal was denied by the Supreme Court, clearing the way for his execution.

Iran and Israel have been locked in a long-running shadow war, marked by assassinations, cyberattacks, and sabotage. Tensions escalated into direct conflict in June when Israel launched strikes inside Iran, reportedly using Mossad commandos in deep infiltration operations.

Executions of people blamed for working with Israel have sharply increased in recent months. Iranian officials say at least 10 people convicted of espionage for Mossad have been executed this year alone, reflecting the heightened intensity of the conflict.
