Punjab makes it easier to open a petrol pump

New mobile app ‘Rah Guzar’ launched to identify legal petrol pumps

Under the new system, applicants now only need to secure a single, centralized NOC—which can be obtained online—rather than collecting approvals from multiple departments such as TEPA, LDA, Civil Defense, Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner, Rescue 1122, Local Government, and the Environment Department. This means aspiring petrol pump owners can apply from home using the LDA NOC portal.

Once the application is submitted, the deputy commissioner is required to make a decision—either approval or rejection—within 15 days, and any rejection must be accompanied by a clear explanation.

Earlier, the approval process could take anywhere from six months to a year, but the new approach promises significant savings in both time and cost.

Applicants will now need only six essential documents, compared to the previous requirement of sixteen. The minimum land requirement remains at two kanals with an 80-foot frontage.

These reforms were developed by the Industries Department and received official approval during a cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
