President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has dismissed all news and rumours about divisions within the Chaudhry family and the party following Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s decision to side with the PTI government on the no-confidence motion submitted by the Opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly.
Pervez Elahi’s decision came when Imran Khan offered him the Punjab chief ministership, which he accepted, replacing incumbent CM Sardar Usman Buzdar.
In a statement made on Tuesday, the veteran politician and former prime minister stated that there are no disagreements between the PML-Q and the Chaudhry clan, adding that the ‘party and family are on the same page.’
He condemned the horrible behaviour of presenting facts in a twisted manner. He stated that every choice taken by the party leaders was made with his input. He lambasted and dismissed all of the rumours that were going around in the media as false.
He stated that while he did not believe in clarifying such rumours, he would want to state that he was regarded as the family patriarch. He said that the number of young MPs in parliament was more than the total number of young MPs in all prior legislatures. It’s wrong to make accusations against them or cast doubt on them, according to Shujaat.
He believed that the term “money bargain” should not be used, and that educated people, in particular, disliked it. He went on to say that presenting information in a distorted manner is improper.
The PML-Q president boasted about his large family. They have not only lived in Punjab for the previous 50 years, but they have also lived in practically every region across the country. Despite the fact that we have a large family, my advice is sought in every matter, the seasoned politician stated.
Those who spread propaganda against family in order to achieve the political benefit, he said, would be disappointed.
Moonis Elahi, Minister of Water Resources, also tweeted a screenshot of Ch Shujaat’s comments.
