The US dollar hit an all-time high of Rs182.15 in interbank trading on the first day of the workweek, up 37 paisas.
This indicates that the US dollar has reached an all-time high versus the Pakistan rupee in the country’s history.
The US dollar rose 17 paisas to Rs182 versus the Pakistani rupee at the opening of interbank trade, but even before 12 noon, the US currency had crossed the psychological level of Rs182 and hit Rs182.15.
The payment of foreign loans and import costs, according to economists, has put pressure on the Pakistani rupee. In a month and 18 days, the government paid back a debt of Rs2.43 billion.
The previous close of the US dollar versus the Pakistani rupee was Rs181.78 on Friday last week.
