Bollywood ‘Saiyaara’ becomes the second biggest blockbuster of 2025.
The recently released Bollywood film Saiyaara has become the second-highest-grossing film of 2025, raking in massive earnings both domestically and overseas within just nine days of its release.
Directed by much-loved filmmaker Mohit Suri, Saiyaara has struck a chord with audiences across age groups through its portrayal of love, longing, and heartbreak.
Storyline
Featuring debutants Ahaan Pandey and Anit Pada in lead roles, the film narrates the story of an aspiring musician and a reclusive writer who fall in love, only to be torn apart by life’s emotional upheavals.
Box office collection
According to Indian trade analysts, the film collected Rs217.25 crore in India by the end of its ninth day, with a significant jump in business over the second weekend.
On Saturday alone, it earned Rs26.5 crore — a 50% increase from Friday’s collection of Rs18 crore.

What has surprised many in the industry is the film’s ability to match its second weekend earnings with its first weekend performance, suggesting sustained interest from moviegoers and positive word-of-mouth.
Global earnings
Internationally, Saiyaara has also made a mark. On its second Friday, the film reportedly earned over Rs30 crore globally and crossed the $1 million benchmark in a single day in overseas markets — a rare feat for a romantic film fronted by newcomers.
By the end of the eighth day, Saiyaara’s worldwide gross stood at Rs282 crore, with Rs229 crore earned in India and Rs53 crore overseas.
The film has now surpassed Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 to become the second highest-grossing film of the year, trailing only behind the historical epic Chhawaa, which leads the box office with Rs601 crore.

Set against a musical backdrop, Saiyaara unfolds the tender tale of Krish Kapoor, a struggling singer-songwriter, and Vaani Batra, a reserved novelist.
Their journey through love, creative passion, and heartbreak is delivered in Suri’s trademark emotional style, with a soundtrack that has also topped music charts.
Critics have praised the film’s emotional depth and strong performances, while fans have lauded the on-screen chemistry of the lead pair, as well as the film’s soulful music and heartfelt storytelling.
