Arshad Nadeem faces setback with leg surgery in England.
Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem’s comeback to the international stage is unlikely as he will have to undergo surgery in England as part of his recovery from a nagging muscle injury, with doctors expressing cautious optimism about his return to elite competition soon.
Dr. Ali Bajwa, a renowned orthopaedic specialist based in Cambridge and one of the key figures overseeing Arshad’s treatment, confirmed that the javelin star will begin his rehabilitation phase following surgery.
“Please pray for Arshad’s recovery,” said Dr. Bajwa. “We want the treatment to go well so he can return to international competition. The process will take time, but we are hopeful.”

Arshad Nadeem recently moved to the UK for treatment of persistent pain in his calf muscle, an issue he spoke about in an interview with Geo News last week.
The injury had been hurting him since his return from international events earlier this year and had restricted his training intensity.
While the exact duration of his rehab remains uncertain, Dr. Bajwa clarified that Arshad will not rush the process.
Rise to fame
Arshad Nadeem rose to global recognition after winning gold at the Paris Olympics with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 metres — Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in athletics and a landmark moment for the country’s sporting history.
He followed that with another gold at the Asian Athletics Championships earlier this year, cementing his status as one of Pakistan’s greatest-ever athletes.
His current absence from the circuit comes as a setback for Pakistan’s preparations ahead of the World Athletics Championships, but the focus remains firmly on long-term recovery.
For now, fans and the athletic fraternity wait patiently, hopeful that Arshad Nadeem will return to the field once again with the same power, grace, and determination that made him a household name.
