Farhatullah Babar, a senior PPP leader, and secretary-general encouraged the combined Opposition to reconsider holding a jalsa on March 28 in Islamabad in response to the PTI’s power show on Sunday.
“[The] Opposition should severely rethink plans to hold jalsa in Islamabad on the 27th,” Babar said on his official Twitter account.
“Imran Khan is already on the run.” Deny him the desire to cause chaos, to flee from a lack of trust, to undermine democracy, and finally to claim political martyrdom. “He deserves political death, not sacrifice,” commented a top PPP official.
Meanwhile, sources close to the situation told Daily Dawn that the PDM’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PML-N Vice President Shahbaz Sharif have received formal objections about their planned public meeting in Islamabad.

On the condition of anonymity, a senior PPP office-bearer told the publication that the party had chosen not to call on its employees to join in the long march and the opposition’s public meeting.
“PPP considered there was no need for them to have public gatherings after the Supreme Court decided to block the PTI from holding a public meeting at D-Chowk,” he added, adding that such a move could offer PTI with an opportunity to further delay the vote on the no-confidence resolution.
He went on to say that some “undemocratic forces” could use the situation and that the country could face an “unexpected incident.
There was no need for a public meeting, the senior leader told the newspaper, because the unified Opposition has the necessary votes to win the no-confidence motion.
“Now that the PTI has moved its site to Parade Ground in accordance with the court’s directions and has promised the court that no member will be prevented from voting,” he stated, “We should also call off our march and public meeting.”
