BBC exposes India-Israel nexus through Adani’s Haifa Port deal.

The BBC has exposed secret economic ties between India and Israel, spotlighting the Modi government’s growing proximity to Tel Aviv through a massive port acquisition deal involving the Adani Group.

In an interesting probe video report, the BBC reveals that 70 percent of Israel’s Haifa Port is now under the control of India’s Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), while the remaining 30 percent is owned by Israel’s Gadot Group.

The Modi government’s growing defence and intelligence cooperation with Israel—particularly through RAW and Mossad—has transformed India into a proxy extension of Israeli interests in the region.

The report confirms that the Adani-led consortium acquired the port in January 2023, following its successful bid in a July 2022 Israeli government tender, which was part of the country’s broader plan to privatise state-owned port infrastructure.

Haifa—Israel’s third-largest city, home to its largest oil refinery, strategic maritime infrastructure, and major offices of Google and Microsoft—is now central to what the BBC suggests is an unfolding geopolitical alliance.

The privatisation of Haifa Port was finalised for 4 billion shekels ($1.15 billion) and described by Israel’s Finance Ministry as one of the largest infrastructure and financial projects managed by the state in the last decade.

Under the deal, the Adani-Gadot consortium secured 100 percent shares in Haifa Port Company Ltd. It obtained operating rights for the port until 2054. The port includes two container terminals and two multi-cargo terminals.

Haifa serves as Israel’s principal hub for passenger traffic and cruise ships, and the acquisition allows Adani a strategic footprint in the Mediterranean-European trade corridor.
