Pakistan’s ambassador to US Asad Majeed retires

Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States of America (USA), finished his term and accepted a new assignment in Brussels.

After Ali Jahangir Siddiqui stepped down as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States in 2019, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan was appointed.

Dr. Majeed will be replaced as Pakistan’s envoy in Washington by ex-AJK president Masood Khan, and the US administration has already agreed to Sardar Masood Khan’s nomination.

Asad Majeed Khan announced his departure on Twitter, saying he had accepted a new position in Brussels.

“After serving as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US for over three years, I leave today to take up my new post in Brussels,” he wrote.

Pakistan’s envoy also expressed his joy and thanks for the opportunity to represent his country in the United States.

“I thank all our friends in the US, especially the Pakistani diaspora, for their support and contributions for a better Pak-US friendship,” Asad Majeed Khan tweeted.

Dr. Majeed was a career diplomat who served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Japan. He has also worked in New York and Washington in various roles in the past.
