A fire gutted three slum houses near Aziz Bhatti Park on Friday, killing five children, all brothers and sisters.
According to reports, a fire broke out in the slums near Gulshan Iqbal Block 19 and quickly spread, destroying the shantytown. Five of the homes were entirely destroyed by fire. The fire had a devastating impact on a family, as five children, all siblings, suffered significant burn wounds. Four of them, Saima (12), Farhan (11), Kamran (9), and Tayyaba (8), perished on the spot, while their four-year-old sister Zeba was rushed to Civil Hospital in severe condition. The tiny girl, on the other hand, died after a while.
Two fire trucks were dispatched to the scene to put out the roaring flames.
The fire was started by a short circuit in the electricity wires near the slum houses, according to fire department officials.
The bereft family of the slain children pleaded with the government to assist them because they were in desperate need.
