    Prize bonds are non-interest-bearing securities that are issued by the Ministry of Finance. The funds raised from the bonds are used to offset government borrowing. The bond owner receives interest in the form of prizes, which are distributed randomly. 

  • How they are offered
    In Pakistan, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issues prize bonds in various denominations. The SBP also offers premium prize bonds (registered), which are registered in the name of the investor. 

  • How to participate
    The general public can attend the prize bond draw ceremony if they have a valid original CNIC. 

  • How to encash
    All commercial banks are authorised to encash prize bonds, but they can only pay out up to Rs. 1,000. Prizes over Rs. 1,000 are dealt with at the field offices of SBP BSC (Bank). 

  • How to use as collateral
    Prize bonds can be used as collateral against loans.
