Saturday holiday cancelled in schools.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has officially abolished the Saturday holiday in all federally managed educational institutions.

A notification issued on Friday said the decision has been taken to compensate for the academic activity disrupted by closure of schools in recent months.

The decision will come into effect from November 30 (tomorrow), and remain in place until February 1, 2025.

This means that starting tomorrow, Saturday will be considered a full working day in schools and colleges under the FDE’s jurisdiction.

Shedding light on the move, FDE officials further stated that students’ education had been significantly affected due to prolonged holidays and unforeseen closures.

“The change has been made to ensure students receive the required instructional time and complete their syllabus on schedule,” the notification read.
